Alwyn Joy George is a Principal Engineer at Ciena with over 17 years of experience in the field of embedded systems, software design, and architecture. Currently, he is working on OTN control plane on 6500 Packet Optical platform. He has previously worked as a Technical Manager with a strong background in project delivery, team management, and software design. Alwyn is an expert in embedded systems with device drivers, BSP development for different SoCs on several RTOS including VxWorks, embedded Linux, and DSP BIOS. His experience extends to VoIP nodes including Media Gateways, Access Gateways, and softswitch. He is proficient in programming languages including C, C++, and Assembly. As a hobbyist, Alwyn has created and designed iOS utility apps for iPhone and iPad. He has also freelanced as a business analyst creating financial models, business plans, and project plans. He is experienced in project planning, business planning, and valuation including DCF, asset-based, and others. Alwyn holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Marketing and Finance from the University of Melbourne, and a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Computer Science from Vishveshwaraiah Technological University. He has also completed courses on Coursera. Alwyn has worked with companies like Ciena and Aricent in the past, where he held positions of Lead Engineer and Technical Manager, respectively. He has been involved in delivery management, requirements specifications, response to RFPs, software design and architecture, and building high-performing engaged teams. Alwyn's tech stack includes Senior Software Engineer and iOS. He is a skilled professional with a strong technical background and a passion for creating innovative solutions.
